On a beautiful sunny afternoon on Saturday, May 4th, the cricket match
between Danial Sports and Algonquin United was off with Algonquin United
winning the toss and electing to bat first. Algonquin United faced early
setbacks, losing their first wicket to a run out and another soon after
despite some impressive hits including a couple of sixes. This left them
struggling at 42 for 2.
The tide turned with Umer Aziz and Shayan Ali at the crease. Together,
they forged a significant partnership, with Umer scoring a swift 44 to keep
the scoreboard ticking. Shayan played a more calculated game, setting
himself up for the long haul, eventually scoring 71 runs. When Umer was
